Two years in a row, we have gone to Bimini, Bahamas in the summertime. This place is amazing! Here is the scoop:

Getting there: You've got a few options here.
1. Go on your own private boat. Locals boat over from Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys, etc. If you aren't local, you can trail you boat over. We drove over from Central Florida and boated out of Lauderdale Marina. It took us about 2 hours to boat from Ft. Lauderdale and we kept the boat in the hotel's marina.
2. Go by ferry. There are a few ferry boats out of South Florida that you can take. (Links below)
3. Fly. Silver Airways provides service to Bimini. There is a tram from the airport to the hotel as well.
Where to stay:
World Resorts, Bimini is hands down amazing. The hotel is gorgeous and clean, has fantastic service, and is full of amenities. There are 3 pools, a private beach, a shopping center, a marina, a casino, 3 restaurants, conference rooms, excursions, and private villas. This is the type of resort that you can spend you whole vacation there and not have to leave. Some people do venture outside the resort, but we've always stayed within the resort with the exception of boating. What's great about this hotel is you can rent a traditional hotel room or a whole house. We ate dinner on the property every night. There is a sushi restaurant, a main dining room (the risotto is the best), dining in the casino, and restaurants in the Fisherman's Village. All of them were excellent!

Things to do:
There are so many fun things to do while in Bimini!
- Explore the hotel - World Resorts Bimini has so many great things to do. If you have kids with you, there are 2 kid-friendly pools. One is by the lobby, and there is a resort style pool just a few steps away from the hotel. The hotel also has a casino, dining, an amazing spa, and adults-only infinity pool & shopping center with a handful of restaurants and stores. If you go to the restaurants in the shopping center, be sure to get some of the conch salad! We did all of these things and had a great time.

- Visit the Resort's Private Beach - the resort offers a free trolley throughout the private grounds. You can ride the trolley down to the beach for a great afternoon of fun. We brought our own snorkel gear and had an awesome time. There are beach chairs that you can use and a great outdoor restaurant/bar that you can get drinks and lunch at too. (The Greek salad is AMAZING!) If you take your own boat with you to the resort, you can anchor your boat at this beach as well. The water here is gorgeous and really looks like it's out of a post card.

- Snorkel the Sipona - There is a an amazing half-sunken ship that you can access by boat ride that you can snorkel & even climb to the top of. The hotel offers excursion trips to the Sipona Ship Wreck site, as well.

- Visit Stingray Island - There is an island off Bimini that is covered with friendly sting rays that you can pet. I wore water shoes because I'm a bit of a chicken :) Again, you can take your own personal boat here or the hotel offers excursions.
- Go Fishing - While I personally did not go fishing, the boys enjoyed fishing in Bimini because you don't have to go very far for deep water. When we were in Bimini, there was Boston Whaler event going on that had a fishing tournament and the boys had lots of fun fishing. They even brought their fresh catches to the restaurant in the casino and the chef made us a fantastic fish feast.
- Visit the concierge desk - the people as the concierge desk were so friendly and helpful. They can book you excursions like visiting the Sipona, Sting Ray Island, jet skiing, and other water activities. During the summer, the hotel also puts on concerts. When we were there, Lil Jon actually performed on the rooftop bar!

A few notes:
- Bring your own snacks. Each year, we've brought as much food as we could pack onto the boat as we could. We kept meat & cheese in the coolers and made sandwiches for lunch and brought other snacks like chips & granola. Food is pretty expensive on the island and all those purchases can add up. We also brought our own drinks & kept them on the boat as well.
- Take a few fishing shirts, buffs & hats. The sun is STRONG down there. I've lived in Florida most of my life and had to wear shirts during midday to keep myself from getting burnt.
- Bring a deck of cards or some games. Just about every night, we hung out in the lobby or on the patio of the hotel because they were so gorgeous and the perfect temperature at night and played games.
- Bring your own snorkel gear. Not only will you want to use your own on excursions, but it was so fun having our own set at the beach because the water is so clear.
- If you are bringing children, pack an inflatable to use at the pool because they can be a bit pricey at the island stores.
- Take a tumbler, like a Yeti or Tervis Tumbler. Again, it's super hot in Bimini. We'd fill up our tumblers with ice from the ice machine so we'd stay cool all day in the sun.
Trip Essentials:
All in all, we've loved both of our trips to Bimini. We went with a great group of friends and made a lot of fun memories there. It's worth going for a couples trip, family vacation, with the kids, or a group of friends!
