Hey friends!
I don't know about you, but I love getting my nails done and having a perfect manicure. I've been wearing nail polish non-stop since I was in middle school and I am low-key obsessed. As someone who is budget conscious, going to the nail salon consistently can add up over time. And normal nail polish starts to chip after a few days; even the gel kits that I've tried just haven't lived up to that salon perfection.
One of my girlfriends told me about at-home dip powder kits, and ever since then, I have been hooked. For about the cost of a gel or dip manicure at the salon, you can accomplish the same look at home with a dip kit.

What's in a dip kit? There are 5 basic parts of in a dip kit: 4 bottles that look like clear nail polish (a nail preparer, a base that makes the nail sticky for the powder, a sealer & the glossy top coat) and a jar of powder or "dip" that puts the color on your nail.

Dip kits are great because you get a super shiny manicure that won't chip away in a few days like regular nail polish. They also don't use a UV lamp, so your skin doesn't get exposed to harmful UV rays. You don't have to be a trained manicurist to use one; they're really user-friendly, even for beginning users.
There are tons of brands and kits that you can get on Amazon, but this one from Sparkle & Co has been my favorite. I've tried a few brands and the cheapest kit that I could find, and while they did work, this one gave me the best & shiniest results.

To use a dip kit, you first need to prepare your nails, just like they do at the salon. Trim your nails, file & shape them & make sure they don't have any nail polish on them. Use a nail buff on the entire surface of your nails to make sure your nails aren't shiny beforehand so they can grip onto the paint. You'll need a brush to get excess powder off your nails, too. This dip kit comes with detailed instructions on how to do your nails. Essentially, you do the preparation coat, the base, dip it into the powder, repeat this twice, use the sealing coat, buff your nails, & then add 2 coats of the glossy finish. There are also tons of videos on YouTube, too, full of tips and tricks. It's worth noting that it's okay if you don't get it perfect the first time. It took me a few tries to figure out just how to achieve the shiniest results.

If you're someone who's hooked on dip kit nails and want to try new colors, Sparkle & Co also offers monthly subscription boxes of all types so you can try out new colors and gel polishes.
The end result: a shiny, glossy, perfect manicure for a fraction of the cost! If you want to thy their kit out, you can use my code LILLIAN for 15% off your purchase (:
