Hey friends!

Who else is a fellow book worm? My girlfriends and I are constantly passing around good reads and it's like we've got our own book club even though we're miles apart. Every night before bed, I love to get at least 30 minutes of reading in to relax with my pup. I love hunting down a good bargain and having an actual book to hold - so all of the books linked below are less than $7.

Everything from this summer:

Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple - Whenever a book is being turned into a movie, I love to read the book first. This hilarious book follows the tale of Seattle mom Bernadette, who runs away when her husband confronts her with an intervention about the quirky things that have been happening in her life. This book is written by the same person who produced Arrested Development, so it is full of dead-pan dry humor.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaeldes - This book was arguably my favorite mystery thriller that I read this summer. It follows the story of a psychotherapist who is determined to help Alicia Berenson, a famous artist who murdered her husband. Alicia has not spoken in years since murdering her husband. Will she ever speak again? Will be find out why she killed him?

The Hypnotists' Love Story by Liane Moriarty - is there anything by Liane Moriarty that we don't love? This book follows hypnotherapist Ellen's story about her new romance with Patrick, a man who has a stalker from his previous relationship. Instead of being turned off by her new boyfriend having a stalker, she's actually intrigued about what makes Patrick so enticing. This book is not so much a thriller as it is a "fun" love story book. I read this one to take a break from the mysteries this summer.

The Girl Before by JP Delaney - This was another great thriller that I read this summer that kept me up late turning the pages. It follows the story of two women who have lived in a house designed (and rented out) by an architect who has very strict rules about how his tenants have to live. When one of the tenants learns about a death that previously occurred in the house, her curiosity cannot be satisfied until she learns the truth.

The Woman in The Window by AJ Finn - This is a thriller that makes you question what is real and what isn't. It follows the story of an agoraphobic therapist who watches all her neighbors all day through her windows in her busy, luxury NYC neighborhood. One day, she witnesses a murder, but the police and the neighborhood are hesitant to believe her when she cannot provide any proof.

Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter - This book had me racing to turn the page to find out what happens. If follows the story of Claire, a wealthy housewife who's husband is murdered in broad daylight in an alley for apparently no reason. Claire spends her time trying to find out why her husband was murdered and what secrets he was keeping from her. (NOTE: this book does have a few gruesome murder scenes)

My fall reading list:

I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara - I just started this book yesterday & it is the first non-fiction that I've read in a while. This book follows a true-crime researcher's journey to solve the mystery of who the identity of the Golden State Killer from the 70's & 80's.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid - This was a recommendation from one of my BFFs about a glamorous Hollywood star who at the age of 79 decides to have an interview about her life.

The Gone Dead by Chanelle Benz - This is the book that I am most looking forward to reading ever since I saw it on Jimmy Fallon. It follows the story of Billie, who returns to her childhood home to collect her inheritance from her father's death. While home, Billie hears a strange rumor that she, herself, went missing the day her father died over 20 years ago. (note: this is the only book on this list that I went over budget for at $17)

What's on your reading list this fall? Would love to hear any recommendations!

XX Lil
